About the Role

As an Associate Data Engineer at Workwarp, you will report to the Manager of Data Services and work closely with our team of senior data engineers to develop and implement data engineering solutions. Your primary responsibilities will include building massive reservoirs for big data, optimizing performance, and supporting data science projects. You will also assist with research and building proof of concepts to test out theories recommended by senior team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Scalable Data Solutions: Design, build, test, and maintain large-scale data systems that support reporting, analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
  • Ingest, Process, and Store Massive Data: Build processes to ingest, process, and store massive amounts of structured and unstructured data.
  • Optimize Big Data Ecosystems: Assist with optimizing the performance of big data ecosystems and wrangle data in support of data science projects.
  • Support Data Science Projects: Perform productionization of machine learning and statistical models for data scientists and statisticians.
  • Collaborate with Senior Team Members: Assist with research and building proof of concepts to test out theories recommended by senior and lead data engineers.
  • Ensure Quality and Alignment: Gain a thorough understanding of customer requirements and ensure that work products align with these requirements.
  • Adhere to Development Guidelines: Work within established development guidelines, standards, methodologies, and naming conventions.

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree: A bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., computer science, information technology) or working towards it.
  • Design and Development Experience: A minimum of 3 years of design and development experience.

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:

  • CRISP-DM Methodology: Knowledge of CRISP-DM methodology relevant to data engineering, including data preparation and deployment.
  • Big Data Technologies: Knowledge of big data technologies, concepts, and their applications for data processing.
  • Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing: Advanced knowledge of business intelligence and data warehousing.
  • Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence: Fundamentals of machine learning and artificial intelligence using Microsoft technologies.
  • Performance Tuning and Code Optimization: Performance tuning and code optimization in SQL.
  • Data Profiling and Dimension Modeling: Data profiling and dimension modeling techniques and creation of logical and physical data models.
  • Job Scheduling Tools: Experience working with job scheduling tools.
  • Programming Languages: Experience with SQL, Python, Linux Shell Scripting or MS Power Shell, Spark, NoSQL.
  • Cloud Service Models: Experience with cloud service models: PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, and any cloud vendor (Azure/GCP/AWS).
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics in a simple and understandable way to non-technical audiences.
