Creative Director

Remote · USA Full-time New today

We're looking for a Creative Director who sees insurance not as a boring industry, but as an endless opportunity for groundbreaking creative. Someone who can turn legal disclaimers into poetry and make people want to talk about insurance at dinner parties.

This role is about transforming Lemonade's disruptive ethos into campaigns that truly shake up the industry and create cultural moments. Our foundation is strong, our product is loved, and our team is world-class; now we need someone to amplify that momentum into unforgettable campaigns that capture the attention of the industry and our customers.

In this role you'll

  • Dream up the impossible, then make it happen: Build campaigns that make competitors nervous and customers obsessed. Think stunts, viral moments, and the kind of work you've shared with friends, thinking, "damn!" Success looks like campaigns that generate significant buzz and drive measurable engagement

  • Turn abstract brand strategy into concrete creative magic: Take "we're bold" and "we're straightforward" and translate them into campaigns that prove it. You'll transform business goals into cultural moments

  • Collaborate like your ideas depend on it (they do): This individual contributor (IC) role is highly collaborative. You'll work closely with our in-house creative and design agency, product teams, PR, and executives to ensure every customer touchpoint feels unmistakably Lemonade

  • Stay three steps ahead of culture: Monitor trends, predict what's next, and strategically position Lemonade at the forefront of conversations that matter to our customers

  • Execute end-to-end with obsessive attention: This is a hands-on role. You'll manage projects from the initial spark of an idea through final delivery, ensuring every detail maintains our high creative standards

  • Confidently pitch, present, and sell ideas to senior leadership and the executive team. You'll craft compelling narratives that not only inspire but also gain buy-in at the highest levels of the company

What you'll need

  • 7+ years of experience turning creative vision into cultural moments, with a portfolio showcasing campaigns that moved needles, started conversations, or changed how people think about a category

  • Exceptional copywriting skills that make people stop scrolling. Your words should feel effortless but land with impact, from headlines to manifestos, making complex ideas simple and unforgettable

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising, Marketing, Communications or a related field

  • Brand-building in your DNA: You've either built a brand from scratch or dramatically elevated an existing one. Bonus points if you've made "boring" industries interesting

  • A portfolio of "beautiful rebellions": Show us work that took risks and won, campaigns that competitors studied, and ideas that became case studies

  • Strategic thinking that clearly connects creativity to business outcomes. You understand why your ideas work, not just that they're clever

  • In-house experience or a strong startup mentality, thriving when you're close to the product and culture, and preferring collaboration over creative isolation

  • Deep US market intuition: You know what makes American consumers tick, what they share, and what they ignore. Familiarity with the New York creative scene is a major plus

  • Ability to work in our Soho office 3 days a week

  • Enthusiasm about learning and adapting to the exciting world of AI – a commitment to exploring this field is a fundamental part of our culture

Please note that we are unable to sponsor applicants for work visas
