Low Voltage Technician

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Low Voltage Technician to install, maintain, and repair low voltage systems such as security, networking, fire alarms, access control, CCTV, intercoms, and audio/visual systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with cabling, testing, and troubleshooting, along with a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, terminate, and test low voltage cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, coax, etc.).

  • Set up and maintain low voltage systems including:

    • Security and surveillance systems (CCTV)

    • Access control and alarm systems

    • Data/voice networking and structured cabling

    • Audio/video systems and intercoms

    • Fire alarm systems (if certified)

  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics.

  • Troubleshoot and repair systems and components with minimal supervision.

  • Ensure installations comply with all local, state, and national codes and industry standards.

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and job site cleanliness.

  • Work with clients and project managers to ensure expectations are met and jobs are completed on time.

  • Document work performed, including service reports, testing results, and system updates.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in electronics or electrical systems preferred.

  • 13 years of hands-on experience in low voltage systems installation or service.

  • Proficient with hand tools, testing equipment, and low voltage safety practices.

  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in teams, often on active construction sites.

  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record.

Preferred:

  • Low Voltage License (if required by state/local jurisdiction).

  • Certifications such as BICSI, OSHA 10/30, NICET, or manufacturer-specific training (e.g., Honeywell, Hikvision).

  • Experience with lifts, ladders, and working in confined spaces.
