About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our team in Hawthorne, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students, while also gaining hands-on teaching experience on your own schedule. We offer competitive pay rates, with up to $190 for day-to-day assignments and more for long-term assignments. Key Responsibilities

• Teach a variety of subjects, including math, science, English, and social studies, to students of different ages and skill levels
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, adapting to the needs of each classroom and student
• Manage classroom behavior, maintaining a positive and respectful learning environment
• Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and school administrators, providing feedback and support as needed
• Collaborate with other educators to develop and implement curriculum, sharing best practices and expertise
• Participate in professional development opportunities, staying up-to-date on the latest teaching methods and technologies

Essential Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• Three professional references, with at least one from a previous direct supervisor
• NJ Substitute Credential
• Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• A passion for education and putting students first

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with students of different ages and skill levels
• Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching, classroom management, and other educational best practices
