They are seeking a Customer Service Specialist I to handle incoming calls, manage patient accounts, and ensure excellent customer service in a supportive remote work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Handle a high volume of incoming calls from patients, insurance carriers, and physician offices
  • Collect outstanding patient balances and establish payment arrangements professionally
  • Document payment terms and update patient accounts with new insurance and demographic information
  • Address customer inquiries, disputes, and complaints, escalating issues as necessary
  • Maintain clear documentation of work and follow-up steps in the billing system

Skills

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Minimum of 6 months' experience in a physician billing or third-party payer environment
  • Understanding of contracts, insurance benefits, and compliance regulations
  • Ability to navigate the payer adjudication process
  • Experience with patient financial and practice management systems, such as Epic
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Previous call center or claims experience
  • Experience in an academic healthcare setting
