The position is based at our 50,000 square foot site in Farmington Hills, MI, where approximately 150 dedicated team members work together to make a difference in the medical device industry.

SHIFT

This position is for 2nd Shift (2PM - 10:30 PM).

A BRIEF OVERVIEW

The CNC Lathe Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, performing offsets, and operating CNC lathes in accordance with established protocols. You will ensure that production goals are met while maintaining quality and adherence to safety standards.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Select programs, collets, bushings, and tooling for setup on CNC Lathe.
  • Conduct setups as needed for the CNC Lathe.
  • Operate CNC Lathe for production runs.
  • Complete necessary router information accurately.
  • Conduct first piece and in-process inspections to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Manufacture parts according to manufacturing or customer prints.
  • Maintain tooling for CNC lathe to support consistent production quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines as per schedule.
  • Engage in housekeeping activities following 6S standards.
  • Report directly to the area Supervisor, contributing to the team's success.
  • Complete machining functions effectively while monitoring multiple machines.
  • Make offsets and adjustments with guidance to enhance machine performance.
  • Uphold health and safety for yourself, teammates, and the community.
  • Support quality and compliance by adhering to all Quality Management Systems (QMS) procedures.
  • Complete all required training to stay current in skills and knowledge.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Lean manufacturing experience (preferred).
  • Experience in medical device manufacturing (preferred).
  • 1+ years of experience operating machining equipment in a manufacturing environment (preferred).

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a machining trade school program (preferred).

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS THAT ENABLE SUCCESS

  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with machine setup.
  • Knowledge of visual quality assurance practices.
  • Understanding of GD&T.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Basic information processing skills.
  • Experience with quality inspection metrology tools.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Basic handwriting and data entry skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Occasional movement around the facility.
  • Ability to handle, adjust, and inspect various items and equipment regularly.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Familiarity with noise in the manufacturing environment.
