Environmental Scientist

Farnsworth Group is a nationally recognized architectural, engineering, and surveying firm seeking an Environmental Scientist. In this role, you will perform field investigations, research environmental permitting, and cultivate client relationships within a dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performing field investigations to delineate and map wetlands, perform environmental compliance inspections, describe habitat, and report environmental conditions to design engineers
  • Researching and completing environmental permitting at the federal, state, and local levels
  • Composition of a variety of regulatory documents including Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and Best Management Practice (BMP) Plans
  • Cultivating strong client relationships
  • Working with project teams, technical staff, and subcontractors

Skills

  • BS (MS preferred) in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Natural Resources, or related discipline
  • 0-5 years of environmental related experience, field experience a plus
  • Experience collecting GPS data and creating maps in ArcGIS Pro
  • Familiarity with federal and state environmental regulations (Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and the National Historic Preservation Act, etc.)
  • Strong team player in a multi-disciplinary environment that can manage and contribute to several projects simultaneously
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation capabilities
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must be willing to travel for fieldwork on short notice
  • Must have a valid driver's license
