Research Design / Statistics Tutor (IO Psychology)
Mesivta Yesodei Yeshurun is seeking a dedicated tutor for students enrolled in PSGN 671 and/or PSGN 672 courses. The role involves providing tailored support through in-person and virtual sessions, addressing academic concerns, and collaborating with faculty to enhance the learning experience.
Responsibilities
- Meet with students enrolled in PSGN 671 and/or PSGN 672 to offer additional support tailored to their learning needs
- Offer assistance through both in-person and virtual sessions, ensuring flexibility and accessibility for students
- Address questions and concerns related to class materials, exams, and assignments to facilitate student comprehension and success
- Work closely with up to 5 students per class who are identified by the professor as requiring additional assistance, ensuring they receive the support needed to excel academically
- Continuously assess students' progress and weaknesses to provide targeted support and guidance for improvement
- Conduct at least one 2-hour study session per month for a selected group of students to reinforce learning and address any challenges they may encounter
- Collaborate with faculty members to assist with classroom instruction, exams, record-keeping, and other projects as needed to enhance the learning experience for students
Skills
- Must be currently enrolled in or have graduated from the Touro IO psychology program with a graduate degree
- Must be in/have maintained good academic standing, with a minimum 3.0 GPA during enrollment
- STRONG UNDERSTANDING OF THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED: Frequency distributions, probability, central tendency and variability, normal distribution, z-scores and probability, hypothesis testing, parametric and non-parametric tests, ANOVA, 2-way ANOVA and ANCOVA, χ2, useful nonparametric methods, correlations, linear regression, multiple regression, polynomial regression, effect size: ω2, η2, R2, cohen's D
- Demonstrated proficiency in communication (written and verbal)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
- Strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with students, faculty and colleagues
- Ability to solve complex problems and meet deadlines
- Exceptional analytical, problem solving skills, collaboration, and matrix management skills
- Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work
- Proficient in SPSS software
