Remote · USA Full-time New today

About arenaflex

arenaflex is a global leader in innovative semiconductor solutions, delivering cutting‑edge system‑on‑chip (SoC) technologies that power the next generation of consumer electronics, automotive platforms, and AI‑driven devices. With a culture rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and relentless pursuit of excellence, arenaflex empowers engineers to turn bold ideas into tangible silicon that reshapes how people interact with technology. Our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and continuous learning creates an environment where every team member can thrive, innovate, and make a lasting impact on the world.

Why This Role Matters

As a Custom Circuits Design Engineer at arenaflex, you will be at the heart of our advanced ASIC development program. You will design, simulate, and validate custom silicon blocks—such as SRAM memories, on‑chip sensors, and machine‑learning accelerators—that enable high‑performance, ultra‑low‑power SoCs. Your work will directly influence the performance, power efficiency, and reliability of products that reach millions of users worldwide. If you thrive on solving complex technical challenges and enjoy seeing your designs transition from concept to silicon, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of custom analog, mixed‑signal, and digital circuits for next‑generation ASICs, focusing on power efficiency, performance, and area optimization.
  • Collaborate closely with architecture, power, and verification teams to translate system specifications into detailed circuit implementations.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive simulation and verification plans using industry‑standard tools (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso, Mentor Graphics, Synopsys HSPICE).
  • Perform silicon bring‑up, debug, and characterization across process, voltage, and temperature (PVT) corners, delivering accurate models for downstream design flows.
  • Drive design for test (DFT) strategies, including built‑in self‑test (BIST) and automatic test equipment (ATE) data analysis, to ensure high yield and manufacturability.
  • Mentor junior engineers, share best practices, and contribute to the continuous improvement of design methodologies and documentation standards.
  • Maintain close communication with foundry partners to stay abreast of process updates, device models, and design rule changes.
  • Document design decisions, performance trade‑offs, and verification results in clear, concise technical reports.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on circuit design experience in a semiconductor or ASIC development environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven track record designing low‑voltage, low‑power custom circuits, including SRAM, analog front‑ends, and mixed‑signal blocks.
  • Domain Knowledge: Experience in at least one of the following areas is highly desirable: AI accelerators, on‑chip sensors, high‑speed data converters (ADC/DAC), DC‑DC converters, or ultra‑low‑power amplifiers.
  • Process Understanding: Deep familiarity with sub‑micron device physics, leakage mechanisms, and noise sources (1/f, thermal, jitter) that affect high‑precision circuits.
  • Verification Skills: Ability to develop and run testbenches, perform corner analysis, and interpret silicon test data to guide design refinements.
  • Programming Proficiency: Strong scripting skills in Python, Perl, or Tcl for automation of design flows, data analysis, and regression testing.
  • EDA Tools: Proficiency with industry‑standard CAD tools for schematic capture, layout, simulation, and parasitic extraction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience with advanced node technologies (7 nm and below) and FinFET/FD‑SOI processes.
  • Knowledge of machine‑learning hardware acceleration techniques and data‑path optimization.
  • Hands‑on experience with silicon validation platforms, including probe stations and high‑speed oscilloscopes.
  • Contributions to published papers, patents, or open‑source projects in the field of custom silicon design.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex specifications and translate them into robust circuit architectures.
  • Problem Solving: Proven capability to troubleshoot silicon issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills for cross‑functional teamwork with architects, verification engineers, layout designers, and product managers.
  • Communication: Clear written and verbal communication to convey technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Comfort working in a fast‑paced environment where priorities shift based on product timelines and market demands.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to design documentation, simulation accuracy, and layout verification.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

arenaflex invests heavily in the professional development of its engineers. In this role, you will have access to:

  • Mentorship from senior silicon architects and industry veterans.
  • Sponsored attendance at leading conferences such as ISSCC, DAC, and Hot Chips.
  • Internal training programs covering advanced analog design, low‑power techniques, and emerging AI hardware trends.
  • Opportunities to lead multi‑disciplinary projects, expanding your influence from circuit design to system architecture.
  • A clear promotion pathway from Engineer to Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer, and eventually Technical Fellow or Engineering Manager.
