Our teams work on mission‑critical platforms that enable secure, scalable, and intelligent data flows across the entire health ecosystem. If you thrive in an environment where technology meets purpose, arenaflex is the place to make a lasting impact.

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Principal DevOps Engineer – Data Platform to lead the design, implementation, and evolution of our cloud‑native DevOps ecosystem. This remote, full‑time role will be pivotal in shaping the automation, reliability, and security of our data pipelines, infrastructure‑as‑code practices, and continuous delivery workflows. You will partner with cross‑functional teams—including data engineers, security specialists, and product owners—to deliver a resilient, high‑performance platform that powers critical healthcare applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and champion the DevOps vision for the data platform, aligning tooling, processes, and culture with arenaflex’s business objectives.
  • Infrastructure Automation: Design, develop, and maintain infrastructure‑as‑code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, Ansible, or comparable tools to provision and manage resources across multi‑cloud environments (GCP, Azure, AWS).
  • CI/CD Orchestration: Build, optimize, and operate robust CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab CI, or similar, ensuring rapid, reliable, and secure delivery of data services.
  • Observability & Monitoring: Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Cloud Logging) to guarantee platform health and performance.
  • Security Integration: Embed security best practices into the DevOps lifecycle, including vulnerability scanning, compliance checks, and secure configuration management.
  • Collaboration & Mentorship: Work closely with security, compliance, and development teams to enforce standards, and mentor junior engineers to foster a culture of continuous learning.
  • Performance Optimization: Analyze pipeline bottlene‑cks, propose automation enhancements, and drive initiatives that improve deployment frequency and reduce mean time to recovery (MTTR).
  • Innovation & Research: Stay ahead of emerging technologies—such as generative AI, serverless architectures, and advanced container orchestration—and evaluate their applicability to arenaflex’s platform.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Produce clear, maintainable documentation for all automation scripts, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience designing and operating large‑scale cloud environments (GCP preferred, Azure or AWS acceptable).
  • Deep expertise in infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Proven track record building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, CircleCI, GitLab CI, or similar platforms.
  • Strong scripting/programming skills in Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Solid understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration patterns.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex DevOps challenges and propose scalable, data‑driven solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience influencing cross‑functional teams.
  • Self‑starter attitude with a passion for continuous improvement and automation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with monitoring and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK).
  • Knowledge of security best practices in DevOps, including secret management, compliance automation, and vulnerability scanning.
  • Familiarity with generative AI tools and their integration into CI/CD workflows.
  • Hands‑on experience with GitLab, including its CI/CD and security features.
  • Prior mentorship or leadership experience, guiding junior engineers and fostering a learning culture.
  • Certifications such as Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Acumen: Mastery of cloud platforms, IaC, container orchestration, and automation pipelines.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect performance metrics, identify root causes, and implement data‑backed improvements.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with security, data, and product teams.
  • Leadership: Capacity to drive cultural change, champion DevOps best practices, and inspire peers.
  • Adaptability: Comfort navigating fast‑paced environments and rapidly evolving technology landscapes.
