About arenaflex

arenaflex is a global technology leader that empowers organizations to transform their businesses through cutting‑edge cloud infrastructure, data‑intensive services, and innovative software solutions. With a heritage of pioneering breakthroughs in search, artificial intelligence, and large‑scale distributed systems, arenaflex now drives the next generation of high‑performance computing (HPC) and machine‑learning (ML) workloads on its world‑class cloud platform. Our engineers work on problems that affect billions of users, from real‑time data processing to advanced scientific simulations, and they do so in an environment that values curiosity, collaboration, and relentless improvement.

Role Overview

arenaflex is seeking a seasoned Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of HPC and ML solutions on the arenaflex Cloud Platform (ACP). This role is a unique blend of full‑stack system engineering, performance tuning, and strategic leadership. You will partner with product managers, research scientists, and cross‑functional engineering teams to deliver high‑throughput, low‑latency services that power mission‑critical applications for customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and maintain end‑to‑end HPC and ML pipelines on ACP, including kernel‑level drivers, user‑space communication libraries (e.g., MPI, libfabric, NCCL), and client‑facing APIs.
  • Drive performance optimization across the stack—hardware, kernel, runtime, and application layers—to achieve sub‑microsecond latency and petabyte‑scale throughput.
  • Lead a small team of senior engineers, providing technical mentorship, code reviews, and guidance on best practices for distributed systems.
  • Collaborate with product and research teams to translate emerging scientific requirements into scalable, production‑ready services.
  • Develop and enforce engineering standards, testing frameworks, and continuous integration pipelines to ensure reliability and maintainability.
  • Own project timelines, deliverables, and risk mitigation strategies, communicating progress to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Contribute to open‑source initiatives and internal knowledge bases, fostering a culture of shared learning and community engagement.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends in HPC, ML, networking, and cloud technologies, and proactively propose innovative solutions that keep arenaflex at the forefront of the market.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in systems programming, with a focus on performance‑critical software.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Linux kernel development, device drivers, and low‑level networking stacks.
  • Hands‑on experience building and scaling distributed systems, including familiarity with remote direct memory access (RDMA) technologies.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and a solid understanding of memory management, concurrency, and synchronization primitives.
  • Track record of delivering production‑grade software that meets stringent reliability and latency requirements.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities, with the capacity to diagnose complex performance bottlenecks and devise elegant solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with high‑performance communication libraries such as MPI, libfabric, or NCCL, and with GPU‑accelerated ML workloads.
  • Background in high‑performance computing clusters, cloud‑native HPC services, or scientific computing platforms.
  • Familiarity with container orchestration (Kubernetes), service mesh technologies, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Contributions to open‑source projects or publications in top‑tier conferences/journals related to systems or ML.
  • Leadership experience managing technical teams, driving architectural decisions, and influencing product roadmaps.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Systems Architecture: Ability to design scalable, fault‑tolerant architectures that span hardware to application layers.
  • Performance Engineering: Expertise in profiling, benchmarking, and tuning code for extreme throughput and minimal latency.
  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills for working with cross‑functional teams, presenting technical concepts to non‑technical audiences, and influencing decision‑makers.
  • Innovation Mindset: Curiosity to explore emerging technologies (e.g., smart NICs, programmable hardware) and translate them into practical solutions.
  • Mentorship: Commitment to developing junior engineers through coaching, knowledge sharing, and fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Agile Delivery: Experience with iterative development cycles, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and rapid prototyping.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

At arenaflex, your career trajectory is limited only by your ambition. As a Senior Staff Engineer, you will:

  • Gain visibility across multiple product lines, positioning yourself for future leadership roles such as Principal Engineer or Engineering Director.

  • Access a robust internal learning platform offering courses on advanced topics like quantum computing, AI ethics, and next‑generation networking.
  • Attend global conferences, hackathons, and internal tech talks to showcase your work and expand your professional network.
  • Benefit from a mentorship program that pairs you with senior technical leaders to accelerate your growth.
