The Opportunity: Senior Data Scientist Position

arenaflex is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Scientist to join our dynamic data science team. This remote position offers an exceptional opportunity to apply your expertise in advanced data science, predictive analytics, and machine learning techniques to solve complex healthcare challenges. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including healthcare professionals, software developers, business leaders, and researchers to develop innovative solutions that drive meaningful improvements in healthcare delivery, patient outcomes, and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and programming, coupled with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights that inform strategic decision-making. You will work with massive, complex datasets to build predictive models, optimize processes, and identify patterns that can transform how healthcare is delivered and experienced.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sophisticated machine learning models using advanced statistical techniques, including predictive modeling, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, survey design, and data mining
  • Create optimization algorithmic designs, perform data retrieval, complexity analysis, and scientific computing to address complex business challenges
  • Program using a comprehensive tech stack including Python, PySpark, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and other relevant frameworks
  • Apply various machine learning techniques including supervised and unsupervised algorithms to build predictive and prescriptive models supporting diverse healthcare business use cases
  • Build and refine algorithms such as decision trees, regression, XGBoost, K-means clustering, and anomaly detection methods
  • Utilize interpretable machine learning techniques and Bayesian theory to develop transparent and explainable AI solutions
  • Leverage cloud computing platforms including Azure and Databricks, with expertise in querying Snowflake for large-scale data processing
  • Implement software engineering best practices using GitHub, Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD), and agile methodologies
  • Collaborate with finance, research, software development, and business leadership teams to define product requirements and provide analytical support
  • Communicate complex technical concepts and analytical findings to diverse audiences, including healthcare professionals, business stakeholders, and executive leadership
  • Translate business needs into data-driven solutions and communicate insights effectively across the organization

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field with at least 4 years of professional experience OR High School/GED with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
  • Master's degree in STEM, Computer Science, Information Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or related field preferred
  • At least 4 years of experience working with large-scale, complex datasets to create and optimize machine learning, predictive, forecasting, and optimization models
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, PySpark, or other relevant programming languages
  • Expertise in exploratory data analysis, feature engineering and selection, pattern detection, distribution analysis, result visualization, and insight extraction
  • Experience building decision trees and classifiers
  • Hands-on experience with supervised learning techniques (linear and logistic regression, time series modeling, generalized linear models, decision trees, support vector machines, etc.) and unsupervised learning techniques (K-means, hierarchical clustering, association rules, principal components analysis)
  • Experience with Cloud ML platforms, distributed computing, data pipelines, cloud data stores, and serving engines
  • Experience designing and analyzing A/B experiments
  • Advanced ability to communicate rigorous technical concepts and issues to non-experts
  • Experience working in dynamic environments with ambiguity, effectively prioritizing needs and delivering results
  • Experience successfully presenting technical solutions and advocating to research scientists, engineering teams, and business audiences
  • At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace
  • At least 2 years of direct management, indirect management, and/or cross-functional team leadership experience
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (domestic and international)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in STEM, Computer Science, Information Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or related field
  • Experience working with Internet of Things (IoT) and Edge AI technologies
  • Experience in Reinforcement Learning
  • Experience in healthcare domain or healthcare analytics
