Senior Secure Communications Engineer for NATO with security clearance

Remote | NATO Secret Clearance Required | International Travel We are supporting NATO in the development and validation of next-generation secure communication standards used within multinational Command & Control environments. We are looking for an experienced Secure Communications Engineer who combines protocol design, software engineering, interoperability testing, and cybersecurity expertise. This is a highly specialized role working on the future of secure military information exchange.

Responsibilities

Design and refine security profiles for NATO communication standards Analyze compliance with NATO Data Centric Security (DCS) requirements Develop proof-of-concept implementations and concept demonstrators Support interoperability and validation exercises Design and execute security validation testing Produce technical specifications and standards documentation Develop and maintain software components supporting secure information exchange Contribute to SCRUM-based development teams Support knowledge transfer and technical handover activities Required Experience Experience designing or implementing secure communication protocols Experience with: PKI OAuth OpenID Secure messaging Network security Practical software development experience in: Java Python Angular Experience with XML and JSON technologies Experience with test engineering, validation, or interoperability testing Strong understanding of network architectures and messaging systems Excellent written and spoken English Highly Desirable NATO experience NATO Software Factory (NSF) FFT systems STANAG 4774 / 4778 Military interoperability standards CWIX participation Command & Control systems NATO Data Centric Security (DCS) Project Details Remote delivery Collaboration with NCIA teams in The Hague Travel across NATO locations SCRUM development environment NATO Secret clearance required Why This Role Is Interesting Very few engineering roles combine cybersecurity, protocol design, software development, interoperability testing, and NATO standardization work.
