Remote Senior Mechanical Engineer - Energy Systems Development

Remote · USA Full-time New today

About the Role

Our client, a global leader in sustainable energy solutions, is seeking a highly experienced Remote Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their innovative product development division. This fully remote role offers the exciting opportunity to design and develop cutting-edge energy systems and components from anywhere in the US. You will play a critical role in conceptualizing, modeling, analyzing, and validating mechanical designs for renewable energy technologies, power generation, and energy storage systems. This position is ideal for a self-motivated engineer who excels in a remote-first environment and is passionate about contributing to a sustainable future.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical systems, components, and sub-assemblies for energy technologies, including turbines, solar components, battery enclosures, and power distribution units. Utilize advanced CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) for 3D modeling, complex assemblies, and the creation of detailed engineering drawings and BOMs. Perform advanced engineering analysis, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural integrity, fatigue, and modal analysis, as well as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for fluid flow and thermal management. Collaborate effectively with a distributed team of engineers (electrical, systems, software), project managers, and external partners using virtual collaboration tools. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for design verification and validation (V&V), analyze results, and document findings. Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes (e.g., casting, machining, welding, additive manufacturing) considering performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness. Contribute to the development of new product designs, R&D initiatives, and technology roadmaps. Ensure designs meet relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and performance specifications for energy systems.

Requirements

Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field with a specialization in energy systems or thermal sciences. A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mechanical design and analysis, with a strong focus on energy systems, power generation, or energy storage. Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA) and PDM/PLM systems. Demonstrated expertise in FEA (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) and CFD (e.g., Fluent, STAR-CCM+) analysis for complex mechanical systems. In-depth understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and materials science relevant to energy applications. Proven ability to lead technical projects and collaborate effectively in a remote team setting. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience with renewable energy technologies (solar, wind) or battery systems is highly desirable. Must be legally authorized to work in the US.

Benefits

This remote position offers a competitive salary, performance-based bonuses, and a robust benefits package including comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with significant company match, life insurance, and generous paid time off.
