Sr Director, Govt Affairs and Political Engagement

About the position The Senior Director, Government Affairs & Political Engagement serves as a trusted advisor to the Vice President, Government Affairs & Political Engagement. This candidate will also routinely work with other senior leaders responsible for domestic and international government affairs, including the SVPs of both Global and U.S. Policy & Government Affairs and the USPGA Chief of Staff. This role supports the design, implementation, and execution of BMS’s political engagement strategy. It also helps coordinate high-level engagement with policymakers, coalition partners, and external stakeholders in the U.S. and internationally. This position demands exceptional discretion, diplomatic instincts, and the ability to operate confidently with senior leadership. The role translates strategic priorities into well-executed engagements, events, and programs that advance BMS’s policy goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute political engagement activities, including meetings, events, and other outreach ensuring proper protocol and seamless execution.
  • Coordinate engagement with external stakeholders, including policymakers, coalition partners, and industry leaders to support BMS priorities.
  • Prepare high-visibility engagements involving BMS senior executives and external leaders, including crafting briefing materials and coordinating logistics.
  • Establish and refine processes, workflow, and tracking systems to ensure best-in-class internal operations for political engagement.
  • Partner with Legal and Government Affairs to proactively manage risk and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and internal policies.
  • Work closely with the USPGA Chief of Staff to ensure effective communication and seamless integration with USPGA.
  • Support operational excellence across U.S. and global government affairs teams, driving collaboration and unity as “One BMS.”
  • Serve as a trusted utility player able to step into dynamic and sensitive engagements, demonstrating sound judgment and discretion.

Requirements

  • Minimum 12 years’ experience in government affairs, public policy, political engagement, executive operations, or related fields such as diplomacy or campaign operations.
  • Proven experience supporting high-level officials, executives, or principals in complex political or diplomatic settings.
  • Demonstrated diplomacy and ability to engage with policymakers, private sector leaders, and coalition partners.
  • Strong operational, event management, and executive coordination skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple complex, high-visibility projects and events under tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with sound judgment and discretion.
