[Remote] Payroll Analyst - Innovative Engines and Energy Company

Andiamo is hiring on behalf of a client seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Analyst to join a high-volume payroll operations team supporting a large, multi-state workforce. The role involves ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while leveraging advanced payroll systems and analytical capabilities to support operations and maintain compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Support the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a large, geographically distributed workforce
- Ensure payroll activities comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Review payroll transactions, earnings, deductions, taxes, and adjustments to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Perform payroll audits and validation procedures to identify and resolve discrepancies before payroll finalization
- Assist in maintaining payroll controls, procedures, and documentation to support compliance and operational excellence
- Analyze payroll data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement
- Create and maintain reports, reconciliations, and payroll-related analytics using advanced Excel functions and reporting tools
- Utilize data-driven insights to support payroll decision-making and operational efficiency
- Investigate payroll variances and provide recommendations for corrective actions
- Work within enterprise payroll platforms to process transactions, perform audits, and maintain payroll records
- Troubleshoot payroll system issues, data inconsistencies, and calculation errors
- Identify root causes of payroll discrepancies and implement effective solutions
- Support system enhancements, testing initiatives, and process optimization projects
- Partner with Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Benefits, and other internal teams to ensure payroll accuracy
- Provide payroll expertise and guidance regarding compliance, reporting, and system-related questions
- Assist with audits, regulatory reporting requirements, and special payroll projects as needed
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 4–5+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience in a multi-state environment
- Experience supporting payroll operations for large employee populations, preferably 10,000+ employees
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax requirements, wage and hour considerations, and compliance practices
- Experience processing and/or auditing payroll within ADP GlobalView, SAP Payroll, or similar enterprise payroll platforms
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency
- Deep understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and compliance requirements
- Strong mathematical aptitude and ability to perform complex payroll calculations with precision
- Advanced Excel skills, including: VLOOKUP, SUMIF and related formulas, IF statements, Pivot tables, Statistical and analytical functions
- Strong reporting, reconciliation, and data analysis capabilities
- Proven ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve payroll data and formula issues
