[Remote] Data Scientist Senior

GDIT is a global technology and professional services company that delivers consulting, technology and mission services to major agencies across the U.S. government. They are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to design and implement AI solutions that transform how government agencies utilize data, specifically within the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This role involves integrating advanced AI capabilities and developing data-driven insights to tackle significant data challenges.
Responsibilities
- Accelerate our work by integrating advanced AI capabilities across our suite
- Accelerate the use of and evaluate the efficacy of AI coding tools across the team
- Implement both custom-built and vendor/COTS AI solutions, hands-on, from prototype through production
- Design and implement AI solutions for automated program accomplishment tracking and reporting, including intelligent classification systems and proactive knowledge management
- Implement generative AI (GenAI) with large language models (LLMs) and retrieval augmented generation (RAG) to deliver precise, data-driven responses
- Build an agentic framework enabling service ticket management, account administration, and intelligent journey orchestration
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience as a data scientist in AI/ML with a proven track record of deploying production solutions
- Strong AI/ML coding ability, with the capability to implement both custom and vendor-based solutions independently and use of AI coding tools
- Experience with generative AI (GenAI) using large language models (LLMs)
- Strong foundation in machine learning, statistical analysis, and experimental design with both quantitative and qualitative data
- Expertise in AI/ML cloud technologies (preferably on AWS, including Bedrock, Lambda, and SageMaker)
- Experience integrating AI solutions with legacy enterprise systems and orchestration platforms
- Familiarity with data engineering, ETL processes, data pipelines, and APIs
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to stakeholders and leadership
- 8+ years of experience as a data scientist in AI/ML with a proven track record of deploying production solutions
