The Business Development Director will help expand the client base, strengthen referral relationships, and drive new business opportunities, particularly in trade credit insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end sales process, from initial discovery and needs analysis through proposal, negotiation, and policy binding
  • Build an active pipeline of qualified prospects and generate leads from FGI’s strategic referral partners
  • Achieve established sales targets and business development goals, including new business generation, revenue growth, and pipeline development
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with referral sources, clients, prospects, and industry partners
  • Train the team in all the sales and portfolio techniques related to credit insurance
  • Manage the relationship with all the credit insurance carriers
  • Collaborate with the Finance and Technology teams to create cross-selling opportunities
  • Represent FGI Risk at industry conferences, trade associations, and client events to build brand visibility and develop referral networks

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required; finance, business, marketing, or communications majors preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant business development, sales, brokerage, or risk advisory experience
  • Prior experience selling trade credit insurance is required
  • Strong understanding of trade credit insurance products, carrier relationships, underwriting considerations, and client needs
  • Proven ability to develop relationships, generate leads, and manage a sales pipeline
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong relationship-building skills with clients, referral partners, carriers, and internal stakeholders
  • Motivated by goals and performance metrics, with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings, industry events, and business development opportunities as needed
