[Remote] Tax Accountant

Talley LLP is a full-service financial, tax, legal, and consulting firm dedicated to serving entrepreneurially driven businesses and high-net-worth individuals. The Tax Accountant will collaborate with tax staff and management to improve departmental processes, support client needs, and grow the firm's tax services.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare more complex entity-level and individual tax returns, including multi-state, consolidated, foreign bank reporting, etc
  • Review less complex tax returns prepared by staff and outsourced providers
  • Perform fundamental tax research and address government agency's tax notifications
  • Prepare Trust Tax returns
  • Interact with clients for various tax projects, gathering information and resolving tax-related problems
  • Review and identify tax planning opportunities
  • Provide continuous tax return process during the year by interacting with clients and staying current on changes to the client's tax situation
  • Provide superior service to clients to encourage referrals
  • Participate in recruiting tax department staff and interns
  • Provide technical on-the-job (OTJ) training to tax preparers and outsource providers
  • Provide informal mentoring to staff members
  • Participate in department activities as a team player on behalf of the department and the firm
  • Participate in a minimum of 40 hours of CPE per year and share with department and firm personnel
  • Identify and look for process improvement ideas
  • Participate in weekly department meetings
  • Assist as liaison with outsourced tax preparers

  • Ability to review and identify tax planning opportunities
  • Provide continuous tax return process during the year by interacting with clients and staying current on changes to the client's tax situation
  • Provide superior service to our clients such that the clients provide referrals to their friends and colleagues
  • Participate in recruiting tax department staff and interns
  • Provide technical on-the-job (OTJ) training to tax preparers and outsource providers
  • Provide informal mentoring to staff members
  • Participation in department activities as a team player on behalf of the department and the firm

  • Participate in a minimum of 40 hours of CPE per year and share with department and firm personnel
  • Ability and desire to continue to develop technical, personal, and interpersonal skills and to participate in the MTA learning program
  • Follow department policies and procedures

  • Active CPA preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is required
  • Strong project management and time management skills are necessary
