Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high‑throughput media encoding pipelines that support both on‑premise and arenaflex Cloud Services deployments.
- Collaborate closely with the Live Events Operations team to define APIs, service contracts, and operational best practices for large‑scale live events.
- Implement core infrastructure, tools, and services that monitor and orchestrate live video workflows, including automated health checks and alerting mechanisms.
- Build robust automation and quality‑control frameworks that proactively detect anomalies in live streams and notify operators before viewers are impacted.
- Provide end‑to‑end support for live events, ensuring seamless transmission from ingest to distribution, and troubleshooting any issues that arise during the broadcast.
- Participate in on‑call rotations and flexible scheduling to align with global event timelines, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and champion best practices in software engineering, security, and performance optimization.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the product development lifecycle, advocating for agile processes, automated testing, and DevOps culture.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 4+ years of professional experience developing backend systems, with at least 3 years focused on live streaming pipelines or real‑time media processing.
- Strong programming proficiency in Java and Go, with a demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable, and high‑performance code.
- Hands‑on experience with video codecs, container formats, and streaming protocols (e.g., MPEG‑2 TS, AVC/HEVC, HLS, RTP, RTMP, SRT, UDP, Zixi, RIST).
- Deep understanding of video transport mechanisms, including multicast/unicast distribution, bitrate ladder design, and adaptive bitrate streaming.
- Proficiency in building monitoring dashboards, alerting systems, and performance metrics that drive operational excellence.
- Solid grasp of networking concepts, compression technologies, and media security standards such as DRM (using arenaflex DRM suite).
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and debugging skills, with a data‑driven approach to performance tuning.

- Experience with encoding profile creation, bitrate ladder optimization, and video quality assessment tools.
- Familiarity with arenaflex Cloud Services (formerly AWS) for scalable media processing, storage, and distribution.
- Hands‑on experience with arenaflex OS environments (Linux/Windows) and open‑source media frameworks such as FFmpeg, GStreamer, or similar.
- Background in hardware integration, including working with encoders, decoders, and SDI/HDMI converters in baseband or ST 2110 environments.
- Knowledge of HDR standards (HDR10, Dolby Vision) and advanced audio formats (Dolby Atmos, DTS‑X).
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure‑as‑code practices.
