About arenaflex

arenaflex is a global leader in aviation services, technology‑driven travel solutions, and innovative digital platforms. With a heritage of more than 80 years, arenaflex has transformed the way people and goods move across continents, leveraging cutting‑edge cloud infrastructure, data‑centric architectures, and a relentless focus on customer experience. Our mission is to connect the world responsibly, sustainably, and with unmatched reliability. As we continue to modernize our core systems, we are looking for visionary technologists who can translate complex business realities into elegant, maintainable software.

Why This Role Matters

In today’s fast‑moving digital landscape, the ability to model business domains accurately is a competitive advantage. As a Lead Software Architect specializing in Domain‑Driven Design (DDD), you will be the strategic bridge between business stakeholders and engineering teams, ensuring that every line of code reflects real‑world business intent. This is a remote‑first position, giving you the flexibility to work from anywhere while collaborating with a diverse, high‑performing team spread across multiple continents.

Role Overview

arenaflex is seeking a talented and experienced Lead Architect with a deep understanding of Domain‑Driven Design principles. You will partner closely with product owners, business analysts, and senior engineers to analyze complex business domains, design scalable software solutions, and embed DDD patterns throughout the development lifecycle. Your leadership will drive the creation of robust, domain‑driven services that evolve with the business and support arenaflex’s strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Domain Modeling & Strategy: Lead the application of DDD principles, including domain analysis, bounded‑context identification, and ubiquitous language creation.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work hand‑in‑hand with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into technical designs, ensuring alignment across product, operations, and technology.
  • Architecture Design: Design and champion scalable, maintainable, and extensible software architectures that support micro‑services, event‑driven systems, and cloud‑native deployments.
  • Technical Leadership: Mentor engineering squads on DDD best practices, code quality, and architectural patterns, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Facilitation: Facilitate workshops, interviews, and discovery sessions to gather deep insights into business processes, using techniques such as shadowing, surveys, and process mapping.
  • Solution Integration: Coordinate multi‑system integrations, clarifying interdependencies so that end‑users experience seamless, unified solutions.
  • Innovation & Modernization: Evaluate emerging technologies, propose modernization roadmaps, and guide the migration of legacy systems to cloud platforms (primarily AWS).
  • Documentation & Governance: Produce clear architectural documentation, decision records, and domain models that serve as a single source of truth for development teams.
  • Risk & Compliance Management: Ensure that designs adhere to security, privacy, and regulatory standards, prioritizing safety and data protection at every step.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven experience applying Domain‑Driven Design in large‑scale enterprise environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud migration projects, preferably AWS, and a solid understanding of cloud‑native architecture.
  • Strong analytical mindset with demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and synthesize complex data.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence and build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience in Enterprise Business Process Modeling (BPM) and Business Capability Modeling (BCM).
  • Track record of delivering technical designs that balance short‑term delivery with long‑term maintainability.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; advanced degrees or certifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of the aviation or travel industry, including regulatory constraints and operational workflows.
  • Professional certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, TOGAF, or Certified Domain‑Driven Design Practitioner.
  • Experience leading remote, globally distributed engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with event‑sourcing, CQRS, and other DDD‑adjacent patterns.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Java, C#, or Go; strong grasp of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
  • Modeling Tools: Experience with UML, Entity‑Relationship diagrams, and collaborative modeling platforms (e.g., Miro, Lucidchart).
  • Collaboration Platforms: Comfortable using Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Azure DevOps.
  • Problem‑Solving: Ability to break down ambiguous problems, propose concrete solutions, and iterate based on feedback.
  • Leadership: Coaching mindset, fostering psychological safety, and encouraging knowledge sharing.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in fast‑paced environments, quickly assimilating new domains and technologies.
