Role Overview
The Data Entry Operator at arenaflex is the frontline guardian of specimen integrity and administrative efficiency. You will perform essential clerical and support activities that keep laboratory operations running smoothly, from the moment a specimen arrives at the registration desk to its final accession in the laboratory information system. Your work ensures that critical patient data is accurately captured, communicated, and logged, supporting clinicians, nurses, and administrative teams in delivering timely, high‑quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Specimen Intake & Verification: Receive, log, and verify all incoming specimens, ensuring that each sample is correctly labeled, accompanied by accurate requisition information, and entered into the laboratory’s computer system.
- Incident Reporting: Promptly notify appropriate personnel when specimens are mislabeled, unlabeled, or contain discrepant information, and document each incident in the department’s incident log.
- Data Entry & Accessioning: Accurately register specimens, assign billing account numbers, and generate accession case numbers, adhering to established timelines and quality standards.
- Communication Hub: Serve as a reliable communications resource, facilitating the flow of information between internal teams (medical, nursing, administrative) and external partners.
- Problem Resolution: Identify and resolve issues related to specimen receipt, test requisition appropriateness, and patient demographic mismatches, escalating complex cases when necessary.
- Quality Assurance & Safety Compliance: Follow arenaflex’s Quality Assurance policies, OSHA regulations, and personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols when handling blood, body fluids, or hazardous materials.
