About arenaflex – A Leader in Suicide Prevention and Behavioral Health Services

arenaflex is a nationally recognized, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives through compassionate, evidence‑based suicide prevention, crisis intervention, and behavioral health counseling. Since its founding in 1987, arenaflex has built a reputation for delivering high‑quality, culturally responsive services to individuals, families, and communities across the United States. Our mission is to provide a safe, supportive environment where every person in crisis can find hope, healing, and a path forward.

Why This Role Matters

In today’s hyper‑connected world, many people first reach out for help via digital channels. As a Remote Chat & Text Specialist at arenaflex, you will be on the front lines of that digital safety net, offering immediate, empathetic support to those who need it most. Your work will directly influence the quality of care, the speed of response, and the overall effectiveness of our crisis‑prevention programs.

Position Overview

This full‑time, remote position is designed for a seasoned mental‑health professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, technology‑driven environment. You will manage real‑time chat and text communications, supervise remote clinical staff, ensure rigorous documentation, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to maintain the highest standards of care.

Core Responsibilities

  • Timely Digital Response: Answer all incoming chats and texts promptly, adhering to arenaflex’s service level agreements and maintaining a professional, compassionate tone.
  • Clinical Assessment: Conduct rapid yet thorough clinical assessments of each interaction, identifying risk levels, safety concerns, and appropriate interventions.
  • Quality Assurance & Improvement: Monitor program performance, conduct regular audits, and recommend process enhancements to improve service delivery.
  • Documentation Excellence: Complete comprehensive clinical notes that capture assessment findings, interventions, referrals, and follow‑up actions. Ensure documentation meets funder reporting requirements and internal quality standards.
  • Suicide Watch Coordination: Track and manage 72‑hour suicide watch and safety follow‑up protocols, extending work hours when crises demand immediate attention.
  • Team Supervision: Provide day‑to‑day supervision, mentorship, and performance feedback to remote clinical staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Coordinate referrals, share critical client information, and maintain continuity of care across all arenaflex service lines.
  • Committee Participation: Serve on ad‑hoc committees, quality‑management groups, and training initiatives as assigned by program leadership.
  • Training & Development: Deliver onboarding, ongoing education, and skill‑building sessions for new hires and existing staff.
  • Compliance & Ethics: Uphold arenaflex’s policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements; ensure staff compliance with the organization’s standard of care.
  • Flexibility & Availability: Attend required meetings, trainings, and crisis‑response duties outside of scheduled shifts, including evenings and nights.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in behavioral health, crisis intervention, or suicide prevention.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, think clearly, and act decisively in high‑stress situations.
  • Proven experience providing direct counseling services via digital platforms (chat, text, or video).
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to document complex clinical information accurately and concisely.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including empathy, cultural competence, and the capacity to build rapport with diverse populations.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize competing demands, and meet strict response‑time metrics.
  • Reliable high‑speed internet connection and a private, distraction‑free workspace.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or a related discipline.
  • Supervisory or managerial experience overseeing remote clinical teams.
  • Specialized training in suicide risk assessment, safety planning, or trauma‑informed care.
  • Experience with program development, quality improvement initiatives, or grant reporting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data‑analytics tools.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Clinical Acumen: Ability to quickly assess mental‑health crises, determine appropriate levels of care, and implement evidence‑based interventions.
  • Technology Proficiency: Comfort using chat platforms, secure messaging systems, and telehealth software.
  • Leadership: Capacity to inspire, coach, and develop remote staff while fostering a collaborative team culture.
  • Analytical Thinking: Skill in interpreting data trends, identifying service gaps, and proposing actionable solutions.
  • Ethical Integrity: Commitment to confidentiality, professional boundaries, and compliance with all licensing and accreditation standards.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on‑call periods, to meet client needs.
