In the Data Science & Engineering (DSE) umbrella, we harness data to measure, optimize, and personalize every facet of the Customer Service journey. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be the architect of the data pipelines that turn raw interaction logs into actionable business metrics, empowering product teams, analysts, and service leaders to make data‑driven decisions that delight members and drive operational efficiency.

Role Overview

This position sits at the intersection of engineering, analytics, and business strategy. You will work closely with data engineers, software engineers, product owners, and senior business stakeholders to design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that support real‑time and batch analytics for Customer Service. The team is small and high‑performing, which means you will enjoy a high degree of autonomy, ownership, and the opportunity to influence the entire data stack—from ingestion to visualization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines using big‑data technologies such as Hive, Presto, Spark, and Flink to process tens of millions of records daily.
  • Develop and maintain data models that are flexible enough to adapt to evolving source schemas and changing business requirements.
  • Write clean, production‑ready code in Python or Scala, adhering to best practices for testing, documentation, and code review.
  • Collaborate with analysts and product owners to translate business questions into reliable metrics and dashboards.
  • Build and enhance custom visualization tools that surface key Customer Service insights to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Champion data quality by implementing validation frameworks, monitoring pipelines, and establishing data governance standards.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes.
  • Participate in cross‑functional architecture reviews to ensure data solutions align with broader arenaflex technology strategy.
  • Drive performance optimization by profiling workloads, tuning queries, and leveraging cost‑effective cloud resources.
  • Own end‑to‑end incident response for data pipeline failures, ensuring rapid resolution and post‑mortem analysis.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of hands‑on experience building data pipelines with big‑data tools (Hive, Presto, Spark, Flink) on medium‑to‑large scale datasets (tens of millions of records).
  • Proven data modeling expertise, with a track record of designing adaptable schemas that support evolving business logic.
  • Strong proficiency in Python or Scala, with a passion for writing maintainable, well‑documented code.
  • Advanced SQL skills and a commitment to data quality, including experience with data validation and testing frameworks.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability to translate ambiguous business problems into concrete metrics and data solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset, enabling productive partnerships with analysts, engineers, and senior leaders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Familiarity with streaming data architectures and real‑time analytics frameworks.
  • Background in customer service or contact‑center analytics, understanding key performance indicators such as First Contact Resolution, Net Promoter Score, and churn prediction.
  • Exposure to machine learning pipelines and feature engineering for predictive modeling.
  • Track record of influencing product roadmaps through data‑driven insights.
