Aptino, Inc. is seeking an experienced IBM PD Migration Consultant to lead and support the migration, upgrade, and modernization of IBM Problem Determination Tools environments on IBM z/OS platforms. The role involves assessing existing environments, designing migration strategies, executing tool upgrades, and collaborating with various teams to minimize business disruption.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute migrations of IBM Problem Determination Tools across z/OS environments
  • Analyze existing tool configurations and dependencies to develop migration strategies
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and validate IBM PD Tools components
  • Migrate and verify settings, repositories, user configurations, and operational procedures
  • Perform impact assessments and compatibility analysis for new releases and system upgrades
  • Develop migration runbooks, technical documentation, and rollback procedures
  • Troubleshoot migration-related issues and provide root cause analysis
  • Collaborate with application development, infrastructure, and operations teams during migration activities
  • Conduct testing, validation, and post-migration health checks
  • Support performance tuning and optimization activities
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards, security policies, and change management processes
  • Provide knowledge transfer and training to support and operations teams

Skills

  • Strong experience with IBM Problem Determination (PD) Tools, including: Fault Analyzer, Debug Tool, Application Performance Analyzer, File Manager, Workload Simulator (if applicable)
  • Experience with IBM z/OS environments
  • Knowledge of: JCL, ISPF, TSO, SMP/E, RACF, CICS, DB2, IMS
  • Experience with mainframe software installation and maintenance
  • Understanding of migration methodologies, release management, and change control processes
  • Ability to analyze logs, dumps, traces, and diagnostic data
