RPG/400 (RPG III) Developer Requirements Responsibilities... As an RPG/400 (RPG III) Developer, you will play a critical role in the lifecycle of our system. Your responsibilities will include: • Configuring code based on program specifications provided. • Implementing client requirements accurately and efficiently. • Troubleshooting and debugging systems to identify and resolve issues promptly. • Recovering from software glitches and ensuring minimal disruption to operations. • Providing thorough analysis of test runs to assess program functionality and performance. • Developing effective workarounds for unexpected challenges. • Modifying existing programs to enhance functionality or address evolving business needs. • Offering ongoing maintenance and support for applications, ensuring their stability and reliability. • Collaborating with fellow developers and IT support staff to ensure seamless operation of programs and applications. Background: To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications: • A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience in software development. • Proficiency in RPG/400 (RPG III) programming language and familiarity with DB2 SQL. • Prior experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of CL programming. • Knowledge of ILE (Integrated Language Environment) is highly advantageous. • Experience with BPCS (Business Planning and Control System) or other ERP systems is a plus. • Excellent analytical thinking skills to effectively troubleshoot and solve complex problems. • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and reliability in coding and system configuration. • Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet project deadlines.
