Green Energy Loan Specialist

About the position The FSFA Loan Underwriter at the Solar and Energy Loan Fund (SELF) is a full-time role focused on reviewing and processing solar loan applications to support the organization's mission of providing affordable capital for clean energy projects. This position involves analyzing credit reports, income documents, and making loan recommendations while working collaboratively with a team to achieve lending goals. Responsibilities • Processing new loan applications submitted by Loan Officers. , • Working with borrowers through all stages of the financing process. , • Performing data input and reviewing income and budget calculations. , • Analyzing files and overall client portfolio to determine appropriate programs and risk for loan recommendations. , • Submitting for final decisions and assisting other underwriters on final decisions. , • Making final decisions on specialty loans with specific criteria. , • Analyzing financial statements, income documents, tax returns, and other financial and/or project/borrower information. , • Determining cash flow for commercial lending. , • Analyzing credit checks/credit bureau reports. , • Completing loan closings and authorizing home improvement projects to begin. , • Maintaining client and portfolio information in a timely manner for accurate reporting. , • Maintaining SELF's culture and representing the organization with high-quality customer service. , • Supporting and working closely with the loan officers and loan servicing team. , • Preparing weekly and monthly reports regarding lending and underwriting goals. , • Assisting with identifying and developing new loan products. , • Assisting with projects during lower volume time periods. Requirements • A college degree (associates or bachelor's) is required. , • Lending and underwriting experience in at least two of the following loan types: consumer underwriting, construction, green energy, mortgage/housing, and consumer loans (secured and unsecured). , • Experience in consumer underwriting is highly preferable. , • Experience in loan closing and loan servicing is highly preferred. , • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. , • Strong written and verbal communication skills. , • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and follow through with multiple assignments. , • Ability to take direction and learn from others while also being able to self-initiate work and tasks. , • Analytical, logical, efficient, thorough, and detail-oriented. Nice-to-haves • Experience in the clean energy sector. , • Familiarity with community development financial institutions (CDFIs).
