You will work in a fast-paced environment, receiving and sorting inventory, and preparing it for delivery to customers. Duties & Responsibilities: • Proper labeling and sealing of inventory is essential to prevent damage, tampering, and loss during transit • Deploy cutting-edge technologies such as smartphones and hand-held devices to streamline, verify, and package orders • The construction, packaging, categorization, and shipment of pallets and parcels are essential duties • Lift and transport parcels that weigh 49 lbs or less • Receive truck deliveries • Whether you're using a computer program, a smartphone app, or a kiosk at a public facility, the ability to view prompts and instructions on screens is a valuable tool for users of all experience levels • Be sure to stand up straight, walk with intention, apply pressure, draw nearer, lower yourself down, flex your knees, and extend your reach as you perform your tasks • Moving items may be made easier by incorporating carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other mobile equipment • Use stairways to move both upwards and downwards (if accessible) • Execute work operations at a height of 40 feet on an elevated structure like a mezzanine (where relevant) What it’s like at an Sorter: • Safety: All teams receive daily safety guidelines and refresher courses to ensure that everyone is knowledgeable about safety practices. • Surroundings: You shall be required to work around functioning equipment, such as order pickers, vertical forklifts, turret trucks, and mobile carts, as part of your work surroundings. • Activity: Certain jobs may mandate individuals to be motionless in one location, ramble around for extended times, or clamber stairs. • Temperature: The warehouse experiences a temperature range of 60°F to 90°F in various areas; however, on days with high temperatures, some parts of the warehouse can reach over 90°F. • Noise level: The noise generated here can be overwhelming, so ear protection is advisable for anyone who is unable to tolerate loud noises. • Dress code: A relaxed attire policy is implemented at Amazon that takes into account the safety of its workers.
