Medical Assistant/Transcriptionist Position is full-time. Minimum 2 years of experience as a medical transcriptionist with excellent typing speed, high accuracy level and excellent knowledge of medical terminology required. • Responsible, energetic, very organized medical assistant/scribe needed for small Memorial area 'concierge-style' medical practice. • Minimum 3 years medical office/clinical experience. • Candidate must be able to multi task yet prioritize both front and back office duties as necessary. • You will accompany the physician and facilitate his workflow and assist with patient care as well as accurately document the encounter in the medical records on notebook/ PC and must possess typing skills of at least 45 wpm. • The job will involve taking vital signs & information including drug allergies, current medications and chief complaint(s), obtaining medical history, verifying medications, documenting physician's exam as well as communicating follow up care instructions to patients. • May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. • May administer ordered medications via oral, injection, topically, rectal, and/or inhalant administration. • Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly; dispose of contaminated items according to protocol. • Must be able to evaluate a patients needs and respond accordingly. • Communicate with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone /e-mail/ mail as directed by physician. Document patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by provider. • Escalate non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider. • Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required. Provide for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights. • We are looking for a cheerful, dependable, patient, mature, kind, considerate and professional person who has good communication skills, who is able to maintain a positive attitude and represent the practice well with even the grouchiest of patients. QUALIFICATIONS: • High school diploma Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) 2 years Medical Assistant and transcription experience required. Draw blood and administer injections. Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients. Demonstrated knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures. Thorough knowledge of the meaning and use of medical terminology and abbreviations. Must demonstrate knowledge of HIPAA requirements and basic IT security * Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations. Maintain a positive, caring attitude towards patients.
