[Remote] Technical Program Manager – Release Management

The Technical Program Manager – Release Management will oversee the entire release management process, ensuring effective coordination and execution of release activities while utilizing Azure DevOps for tracking and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Support the full release lifecycle for catalog items, including intake, validation, release coordination, and post-release tracking
- Monitor and manage active releases in Azure DevOps, ensuring work items, timelines, dependencies, risks, and blockers are accurate and up to date
- Review new release requests and validate readiness before submission into downstream release processes
- Coordinate release timelines, milestones, deliverables, and dependencies across cross-functional stakeholders
- Track release status, risks, and blockers, and drive issue resolution to keep releases on schedule
- Define, maintain, and govern Azure DevOps structures, including Features, PBIs, Tasks, change requests, backlogs, iteration paths, and delivery timelines
- Ensure Azure DevOps data is complete, accurate, and consistently maintained as the source of truth for release tracking and reporting
- Create and maintain dashboards and reporting views that provide visibility into active releases, change requests, portfolio health, timelines, risks, and upcoming milestones
- Facilitate stakeholder syncs, release readiness discussions, and governance-style reviews to align teams on release progress and requirements
- Support workflow execution activities such as asset list updates, go-to-market submissions, artifact validation, and release readiness checks
- Identify gaps across release processes and related systems, and drive improvements to reduce duplication, rework, and inconsistencies
- Standardize release management workflows, templates, field definitions, and tracking practices within Azure DevOps
- Support release communications, including stakeholder updates, monthly communications, change notices, and milestone reminders
- Provide ad hoc operational support for urgent changes, escalations, release-impacting issues, and portfolio execution activities
Skills
- 5+ years of experience in release management, program management, technical project management, or a similar structured delivery role
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, including work item management, backlog management, iteration planning, dashboards, and reporting
- 3+ years of experience with workflow management, process governance, lifecycle management, or operational process improvement
- Experience managing release lifecycles from intake through validation, execution, release, and post-release tracking
- Strong ability to coordinate cross-functional dependencies across engineering, operations, business, go-to-market, and portfolio stakeholders
- Experience tracking risks, blockers, milestones, change requests, and delivery timelines in a structured delivery environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify gaps, resolve inconsistencies, and improve workflows
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear status updates, stakeholder briefings, and leadership-level reporting
- Ability to operate independently, proactively follow up on open items, and drive stakeholders toward deadlines and release milestones
- Comfortable working in process-heavy, governance-driven environments where accuracy, consistency, and documentation are critical
- Experience owning or improving Azure DevOps governance models, including work item hierarchies, templates, queries, dashboards, and reporting standards
- Experience supporting catalog releases, product/service releases, portfolio operations, or go-to-market release workflows
- Experience conducting gap analysis across multiple systems or workflows and resolving data inconsistencies
- Experience creating release dashboards, portfolio health reports, milestone trackers, and executive status updates
- Experience facilitating release readiness reviews, stakeholder syncs, governance reviews, or CAB-style meetings
- Experience supporting release communications, change management, newsletters, stakeholder updates, or launch communications
- Experience validating release artifacts such as datasheets, asset lists, enablement materials, release documentation, or operational checklists
- Ability to balance execution, process improvement, stakeholder coordination, and reporting responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to improve release quality, reduce process gaps, and increase visibility into release execution
