[Remote] Digital Marketing Specialist
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. American Federation for Children is building a national infrastructure for the Education Freedom Tax Credit, aiming to reshape how Americans give to education. The Digital Marketing Specialist will manage email marketing, oversee website content, and help establish organic social media channels, playing a vital role in the organization's communication strategy.
Responsibilities
- Build, schedule, and deploy campaigns in Iterable across donor acquisition, nurture, re-engagement, and transactional flows
- Maintain and improve our segmentation logic, ensuring the right message reaches the right audience at the right moment
- Write and edit email copy, manage templates, and collaborate with the creative and content team on assets
- Track deliverability, open rates, click-through, and conversion — surface insights and iterate accordingly
- Support the build-out of automated lifecycle sequences as the donor base scales
- Upload and format blog posts, news items, and resource content in WordPress — on time, every time
- Make routine content updates across the site: landing pages, FAQs, team bios, partner profiles, and more
- Partner with the SEO and content leads to implement on-page optimizations and ensure content is discoverable
- QA pages across browsers and devices; flag and coordinate fixes with the web platform team
- Maintain an organized content calendar and publishing workflow
- Recommend and stand up the right channels for our audience based on where donors, advocates, and partners are most active
- Develop a content cadence and voice that reflects our brand and resonates with donors, advocates, and partners
- Create and schedule posts, source or produce supporting visuals, and engage with our community
- Track performance metrics and report on what is (and is not) working — then adjust
- Coordinate with the broader team to amplify campaigns, announcements, and partner moments
- Support campaign launches with digital assets, landing page coordination, and audience setup
- Assist with partner activation materials, event promotions, and paid media support as needed
- Help maintain our marketing calendar and keep cross-channel efforts coordinated
- Jump into special projects when the team needs an extra set of skilled hands
Skills
- 3–5 years in digital marketing, with hands-on ownership of at least two of the core channels in this role (email, web, social)
- Direct experience with an email marketing platform — Iterable experience is a strong plus
- Comfortable editing and publishing in WordPress or a comparable CMS
- Solid writing and copy-editing skills; able to adapt tone across channels and audiences
- Familiarity with basic analytics tools (Google Analytics, native platform dashboards) and a habit of using them
- Experience in nonprofit, advocacy, or cause-driven marketing is helpful but not required
