[Remote] Senior Financial Analyst
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Carilion Clinic is a not-for-profit, mission-driven health system headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia. They are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to lead financial planning, budgeting, and contract negotiation for clinical research studies, ensuring compliance and financial integrity while supporting decision-making and process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Lead development of complex clinical trial budgets, ensuring accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with sponsor requirements
- Negotiate budgets and contractual terms with industry sponsors, government agencies, and external partners
- Manage a portfolio of clinical trial grants and contracts, ensuring timely execution and overall financial integrity
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations, institutional policies, and sponsor requirements across all activities
- Perform advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis to support planning and decision-making
- Monitor portfolio performance, identify financial risks and opportunities, and implement corrective actions as needed
- Serve as a strategic thought partner, providing recommendations for change management and driving course corrections
- Lead and contribute to financial process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reporting

Skills
- Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting, or business administration. 4 years of experience may be accepted in lieu of bachelor's degree
- 3 or more years of finance or accounting experience
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Analytical, organizational and time management skills
- MS Office skills
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- Ability to learn job-specific software
- Multitasks and prioritizes multiple projects under deadlines
- Demonstrates strong accountability and follow-through skills
- Desire for continuous improvement
