[Remote] Lead Engineer

They are seeking a Lead Engineer to lead an offshore engineering pod responsible for technical design and implementation, ensuring alignment with onshore architecture and delivery expectations.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day execution for an offshore engineering pod delivering one or more solutions aligned to onshore architecture and macro design direction
- Partner closely with onshore engineering leadership, architects, product owners, and UX teams to clarify scope, interfaces, acceptance criteria, and delivery plans
- Drive solution-level technical design including decomposition, API/service contracts, data flows, integration approaches, and non-functional requirements within established guardrails
- Own delivery execution: planning, estimation, dependency management, risk tracking, and predictable throughput
- Set and enforce engineering quality standards (code reviews, testing strategy, CI/CD hygiene, documentation, operational readiness)
- Coach and mentor engineers through feedback, pairing sessions, and design reviews, fostering high standards and psychological safety
- Communicate status, risks, and tradeoffs clearly across time zones; escalate proactively with recommendations
- Continuously improve team effectiveness through retrospectives, root cause analysis, and pragmatic process refinements
Skills
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems
- Experience leading engineers or technical delivery for a team/pod
- Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, design patterns)
- Demonstrated experience delivering modern web and/or cloud-native systems (services, APIs, UI)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), containerization (Docker), and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or similar)
- Proven ability to execute independently within an existing architecture and standards while coordinating effectively with onshore partners
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to turn ambiguity into an executable plan and operate effectively across time zones
- Experience across both frontend and backend stacks (e.g., React/TypeScript plus Go/C#,.Net/Java)
- Intermediate/Advanced English skills with strong communication abilities
- Self-motivated, quick learner, and adaptable to new technologies and legacy systems
- Thrives in a team environment, actively contributes to collaboration, fostering a sense of community
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to issue resolution
- Experience with observability practices (logs, metrics, traces) and production support/incident response
- Experience modernizing legacy systems or integrating with legacy/closed platforms
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to enhance coding efficiency and problem-solving
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI into daily development workflows while maintaining code quality and architectural alignment
