[Remote] Lead AI Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. CoPilot Innovations, a subsidiary of The Plumtree Group, is looking for an AI Engineering Lead to act as the technical authority across their engineering team. This hands-on leadership role involves building production-ready AI systems while coaching engineers, reviewing architectures, and setting strong engineering standards.
Responsibilities
- Leading and developing a high-performing Al engineering team while setting engineering standards across multiple client engagements
- Translating complex Al concepts into clear, practical direction for business and technical audiences
- Architecting and delivering production-grade end-to-end Al solutions (ML + newer generative/agent-based approaches)
- Acting as a trusted advisor in shaping Al roadmaps, solution design, and delivery approaches
- Define best practices for AI-first software development, cloud deployment, and engineering quality
Skills
- 5+ years in AI/ML engineering, including 2+ years leading or mentoring engineers
- Strong hands-on experience with Python, LLM applications, RAG, agentic workflows, and AI microservices
- Experience with tools such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, vector databases, PyTorch/TensorFlow, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Understanding of MLOps/LLMOps, CI/CD, AI observability, latency, cost, and performance optimization
- Proven experience mentoring or leading engineering teams
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain AI trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
