Pharmacy Technician - Hospital Care at Home, 7on/7off

The Pharmacy Technician – Hospital Care at Home supports medication preparation and distribution for patients receiving hospital-level care in the home setting, performing core inpatient responsibilities such as medication filling, sterile compounding, inventory management, carousel operations, and deliveries. This role is critical to ensuring timely and accurate medication access, directly impacting patient care and outcomes. Technicians work in a collaborative environment with opportunities for cross-training in specialized areas, including oncology, and benefit from flexible scheduling and continued skill development across various pharmacy functions. A caregiver in this position will work a 7on/7off schedule from 11:30am to 10:00pm or 10:30am to 10:00pm. A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding, and sterile compounding.
- Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate inventory of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training.
- Use information systems, technology, and automation to complete assigned tasks.
- Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
- Basic computer skills
Must meet all of the following license and certification combination requirements at the time of application:
- Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Florida Board of Pharmacy (FBOP).

- It is required, within 18 months from the date of hire: Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) AND Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Florida Board of Pharmacy
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Training Program
- Six months of hospital experience
- Prior inpatient experience
Physical Requirements:
- Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
