[Remote] Director of Accounting
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. RSP Group is a large, privately held construction and engineering organization seeking a Director of Accounting to provide strategic financial leadership across a complex, multi-entity business structure. The role involves overseeing corporate accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and accounting strategy while partnering closely with executive leadership to modernize processes and drive operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead corporate accounting operations across multiple legal entities, subsidiaries, and business units
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Direct preparation and review of consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, and financial governance frameworks
- Partner with executive leadership to support strategic business initiatives, acquisitions, growth initiatives, and organizational expansion
- Lead external audit relationships and coordinate all audit activities
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, process optimization, and financial systems enhancements
- Evaluate and implement technologies that improve reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and scalability
- Collaborate with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Risk Management, and operational business leaders to support enterprise-wide objectives
- Develop and mentor a high-performing accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Support integration of acquired businesses and standardization of accounting processes across the organization
- Provide financial leadership and guidance on complex accounting matters and business transactions
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- 12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Prior public accounting experience with a nationally recognized accounting firm
- Experience leading accounting functions within a large, complex organization
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, consolidations, and internal controls
- Demonstrated experience managing teams and developing finance professionals
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
- Big Four public accounting background
- Experience within construction, engineering, real estate development, infrastructure, or project-based industries
- Experience overseeing accounting across multiple subsidiaries and legal entities
- Exposure to ERP implementations, finance transformation initiatives, and process automation projects
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or business integrations
- Strong understanding of emerging finance technologies, data analytics, and reporting tools
